What are the requirements to apply for AIS PREP?
When does AIS PREP begin and end?

How many days a week is the program?
AIS PREP runs Monday-Friday for 6 weeks.
What time does AIS PREP begin and end each day?
8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Where is the program held?
Idaho State University Campus. Pocatello, ID, must be local students. We are a DAY CAMP, we do not house students.
How much does this program cost
AIS PREP is offered at no cost to the participants.
When is the application deadline?
The application deadline is March 6, 2020.
What does my child need to bring every day?
Completed homework, a pencil, backpack to carry materials.
How will my child get to and from AIS each day?
You are responsible for getting your students to the pick- up location in Fort Hall everyday for busing to ISU.
What courses will my student be taking?
What is the attendance policy?
Each child will be allowed three absences before probable dismissal from the program.
Can my child miss days of AIS PREP to go to other camps (church camps, sports camps, etc.) or family vacations?
No, AIS PREP’s intensive curriculum moves quickly and students will fall behind if they miss even one day.
What if my child has been absent three days and then gets sick?
It is best to save the absences for family emergencies and sicknesses.
What is a “Zero Tolerance” policy?
A strict policy on obedience and cooperation is maintained. This means your child will be dismissed from the program for any of the following: cheating, bullying, disrespectful behavior, disregard for written or verbal rules, etc.
Will there be homework and how often?
Expect homework every night in every class. Homework should take 30 minutes to an hour per class.
Will I be able to help my student with their homework?
Because the homework is advanced math and science, we cannot guarantee that all parents will be able to help their children. AIS will provide tutors to assist students with homework everyday during set hours.
What happens if my child does not complete a homework assignment?

- After the third missed or incomplete homework assignment, the student will miss the upcoming Friday field trip and will stay at AIS campus in a study hall from 8:50 am until 12:00 pm where they can receive the help that they need to catch up.
- The student will also be put on probation until the parents meet with an AIS PREP leader. The student will be dismissed from the program if a homework assignment is missed after the parent meeting.
What is a “teacher nomination”?
- INSTRUCTIONS TO STUDENT: Ask a teacher to nominate you to participate in AIS PREP by filling out this form. Once filled out by teacher, it must be attached to the rest of your application and mailed to AIS PREP on or before March 6, 2020. If the teacher chooses to scan and email their copy instead, please include a note from the teacher stating that it will be emailed.
- INSTRUCTIONS TO TEACHER: Please return this form to the student upon completion. It may be placed in a sealed envelope. Or scan and email to sunshine@americanindianservices.org please include in the subject area “Teacher Nomination” followed by the name of the student being nominated.
